Dietary patterns likely matter more than individual dietary components

There’s nothing “fringe” about nutrition’s role in overall health and healthy immune function… but it doesn’t mean there’s isn’t more research to be done. One of the challenges we must grapple with is how to better understand and recognize the effects of WHOLE DIETARY PATTERNS (or life patterns) on health outcomes, rather than measuring only single variables. It’s actually a challenge for the whole healthcare paradigm.⁣

This quote is from a recent paper written by scientists from the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in the UK and The Italian Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology in their paper “Immunomodulation in Children: the Role of the Diet.”⁣
