Potential damaging effects of artificial sweeteners (even the natural kinds)

Non-caloric sweeteners may seem benign (or at least the natural ones like stevia and monkfruit may), but all share the same potential harmful mechanisms that can promote overconsumption, interfere with healthy metabolism, trigger dysbiosis, and lead to weight gain and chronic diseases. ⁣
⁣
Your immune system can be thrown off too, thanks to the inflammation created by an unhappy microbiota and food overconsumption.⁣
⁣
While occasional, low use is likely OK, regular consumption of significant amounts of these sweeteners isn’t a good idea.⁣
⁣
Far better to retrain your taste buds to appreciate the subtle sweetness of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Soft-cooked onion, anyone? ;-)⁣
