This dietary pattern reduces markers of inflammation and improves asthma control

An anti-inflammatory diet (in the case of this latest research, a DASH diet – high in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and low-fat dairy products), may reduce markers of inflammation and improve asthma control.⁣
⁣
In this study, following the DASH diet for 6 months reduced IL-1beta, TGF-alpha, IL-6, as well as several Th2 and Th17-associated cytokines. Study participants were adults with poorly controlled asthma. ⁣
⁣
Although this study used the DASH diet, other anti-inflammatory diets (high in whole plant foods – veggies, fruits, whole grains – and anti-inflammatory fats, and low in processed foods and sugars/refined carbohydrates) can also be helpful. And for some (as I posted about not long ago), a trial removal of foods such as dairy can add further benefits.⁣
